This chapter looks at working relationships and how they are arranged. In particular, it sets out the distinction between:
-  employees and those that are self-employed; and
-  workers and those in business for their own account who are providing a service to clients.
Other types of working arrangements, such as using zero-hours and gig economy workers are also discussed in this chapter. Zero-hours contracts offer a no-obligation relationship between the worker and the employer, where workers agree to be available for work as and when required though with no particular number of hours or times of work being specified.
