The new levy requires UK employers to pay 0.5% of their wage bill in excess of £3 million to fund the costs of apprenticeship training and assessment. Businesses in England subject to the levy should have registered for an online apprenticeship service account (see Follow up ) and the new system for funding in England will operate from 1 May 2017.
